Sarah’s 1st “official” haircut!

Where do I start?! Well, I guess I have to tell you that my mom has always asked me to let my hair grow out, I just never wanted it. Well, after my little sister was born, she was so excited to see Sarah with very long hair. After 5 years, my mom was finally ready to get my sisters 1st haircut. So, my mom has been asking me where would be the BEST place to go, since my sister also wanted to donate it to Locks of Love!. We went to see one of my sweet brides: Katy Powell. She is my personal hairstylist, so my mom trusted her to do the job!! (he-he) I knew my mom was going to get emotional, so I brought my camera along.

Wow, I can’t believe a year has gone by since the day my little baby came into this world!!! I am incredibly thankful that God sent us this little buddy to play with. I absolutely love being able to be at home with him and enjoy his first year. I got to tell you, those first few months were hard after he was born…I mean I guess I really did not realize what it is like to fully care for someone. He is a person that needs attention and You are the one to provide it! You also get to play with them & love them!

I am incredibly that we have had a great first year, and hope to have many more years filled with fun smiles, games & learning lots from him! Thanks you dear Lord for him!

Today was an amazing day! We had about 3 inches of snow here at the beach! We get a very small amount every year, but I think this was one of the “heaviest” storms that we have experienced in the last 10 years or so!! Anyways, it was so beautiful!! We got up very early at like 4 am and made the mistake to look out the window and see how awesome it looked. Immediately my husband ( who is crazy about the snow) was ready to go out and play! It was extremely difficult to try to get him back to bed and wait until the morning. Of course, he woke up at about 6am and ready to go out. We finally made our way to the beautiful outside at about 7:30 or so.

This was such a great treat from God, seriusly!!Here, I’ll just show you:

His name is Miles, weighs about 25lbs, measures about one foot and 1/2 and although he is a little baby he has the funniest personality! I guess I did not know that he would have his own likes and dislikes, just like a normal person! He IS a person, just little for now. Today, I have been thinking of the reasons that I became a photographer–and there are so many of them but the most important one has been to document my baby’s life! 2009 was a year of change for me! Miles was born in February and literally 4 weeks later the wedding season hit full steam and between shooting weddings, assisting other photographers I came to realize that my main inspiration is to be the best I can be is my son. I have learned an incredible amount of information ever since he was born, but what I learned was to prioritize my life. I realize that photography is very important to me, but not more than Miles and the love that I feel for him, for that reason I decided to become better in everything that I do. Not that I have it down or anything, but I am trying, you know?!

We are learning everyday to be the best parents that we can be! Its a lot harder than I thought it would be, from changing diapers, to doing laundry, to replying emails, to meeting clients, editing weddings, having dinner ready…etc! I could go all day listing all the crazy things that I have to keep up with, but then I think of all the other million women who do this everyday! Not necessarily the photography part, but keeping a household together is a great amount of responsibilities. Well, just the tought of that, makes me want to push myself even harder!

So, for today, there are no fancy pictures, just one…a perfect photo of my child, who pushes me everyday..( and he starts every people, like 7am!) but anyhow…I have learned how to be a mommy, a better photographer and a better business owner. I ask you now, what inspires you?? It is it your job, your kids, your husband, your dog..? Please leave a comment about what gets you moving everyday!

My dear friend Vanessa!

Wow, I can’t believe I have never made a post about one of my best friends in the whole world! It’s kinda crazy!! Well, ladies and gentleman, I present to you ms. Vanessa!I met her about 6 years ago while going to Horry Tech, we had an English class together. I am guessing I had been in the USA for only about 3 years, and I had been praying to God to send me a friend…As most of you know I am from Colombia, South America and back home I have some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for! I was missing my friends from childhood all this time….Well, finally, God sent me Vanessa!!

We have shared so many experiences together, including visiting each others countries! Actually she is from Barbados and we stayed with her family during this last trip. It was so amazing to see where she came from…I feel even closer to her now. Anyways, I am thankful to have her be such a great friend, who by the way looks like a Victoria’s Secrets Model, right?? Enjoy this session, this girl is beautiful!!

I loved loved this session! Courtney ( him) and Deborah, met in the Army! That is something super especial!To love what you do and share it with each other! Often times, I have begged my husband to photograph weddings with me…I just think that it’s not his thing. Anyhow, we had a really great time during these session! It was a cold one, but we managed just fine. I am so excited about their wedding coming up in September.Thanks guys for this time that we got to spend together!

Barbados 2010

We were incredibly fortunate to be able to stay at the Bell residence. They were incredibly kind to open up their home to us ( of course with Baby and all!) We enjoyed it all, the food, the conversations, the beach ( of course), the music late at night , but most importantly, the time to relax!

When Denese called asking if I would please come to Barbados to photograph her wedding, I was like…um…let me think about this…YES!!! She is actually a good friend of mine, so I was super excited for her! She showed me the website of where she was getting married! The Crane is such an amazing resort, its actually one of the top 10 beaches in the world! There was so many amazing opportunities for photos that I was overwhelmed when we first arrived.

The wedding had such a spectacular view…the beach was incredibly blue with beautiful palm trees all around it and although the sky was a little cloudy, the sun came out just at the right time! We decided to do an “after session” a few days after the wedding…I really wanted to showcase Denese and her beautiful gown!

We had such an amazing time in this lovely Island! We loved staying with the Bells and spending time relaxing at the beach. Those photos are coming in a few days.

I really loved that set of photos! The variety of backgrounds was uncountable….I feel like I could have spend a new whole day photographing them! We actually decided to do another session specially for Denese! I love these so much.
