Happy 2012!!! So thankful to have another beautiful year to live! Setting some really awesome goals and trying to enjoy making my dreams happen.

Along those lines, I had a very special time with some of my closest friends on a super cute lunch hosted by my dearest Vanessa. Loved seeing all of you and ( we missed you Andrea!) Anyways, I love looking back at these pics and hopefully I can see you all again

Merry Christmas

Feliz Navidad & Merry Christmas! I absolutely love this day…maybe I should give you an insight about how we Colombian people celebrate it! First we start with a tradition called Novela–Its a nine day gathering with family and friends, we sing Villancicos ( Christmas Carols in Spanish) and we eat traditional Colombian pastries and such. On Christmas Eve, we usually have a pretty big dinner, we dance latin music…a collection of Salsa, Merengue, Vallenato & maybe some Bachata. Whew…the dancing is a pretty big deal..there are steps to each one of these types of music. ( I think I should eventually explain this part further!). On the 24th, we stay up until 12am…Christmas time! We open up presents then and usually dance some more! I really really enjoy the time with my friends and my family. So, however you celebrate, I wish to you an awesome day! I leave you with a photo of Miles! Merry Christmas!

Teaching Kids Photography

Super excited about being part of this project founded by the Wellness council of South Carolina. Its goal is got reach to kids in the community and teach them subjects related to developing creativity & learning about art. I am so honored to be part of this project and had a blast on our first class with the kids from Whittenmore Park Middle School!

Whohooo! After much debating, work and shopping we finally put it together! Sara from Stunning and Brilliant Events and I really thought of creating an environment for each of our clients that would inspire creativity and would showcase the work that we absolutely love doing! Our Grand Opening was incredible, we had help from so many amazing vendors, we cannot thank you enough!

Huge shout out to: Carolina Events & Tents, Globaltruth Entertainment, Little shop of Flowers, Croissants Bakery, and of course to Sara who coordinated the event so precisely! It was fantastic to see all of our family, friends and colleagues come together. Also, big thanks to my parents & Sara’s parents…their support has been immense! Please come by to see us! My Goodness, seriously? It’s taken me quite a while to post these. Since I got back, I’ve been setting up our new store, which I will post photos soon of! I had such an incredible time back him and loved seeing all my relatives & friends.

Dream a Dream Fashion Show

Circus Time!

Last week we took Miles and my little sis Sara to a circus visiting into town, wasn’t sure of what Miles reaction too all fun to come. As soon as we went in, this was going on…

At some point of the show, they bring motorcycles, it was so loud, my poor baby got scared…can you see it?

Absolutely wanted to document the kids being happy with the new inflatable toys from the circus. Of course we got Miles a race car, that boy is a Nascar lover! My sister took the very last photo of us, I am so proud of her!

New Website: Official Launch!

After doing my branding with the Motto agency and learning all the things that really make a great brand stand out, I felt the need to come up with a website that not only represented my work well, but also the type of person that I am. As I started to tap into the things that I am attracted to, that represent me and that help me get by everyday, I used my phone to take photos of my inspiration, I blogged those here. In order to really grasp the vision that I wanted and translate that into something that made sense, I worked with Brooke Boiling, an amazing web designer who was able to put all my vision into this new website.

My first step was to give Brooke an overall vision of what I had in mind, so I went back to my branding stradgety and read the notes from it. One thing that really help me was to make a list of 5 words that I want my clients to feel when they experience my brand, which were:

Vibrant, energetic, global, ethic and earthy. As I mentioned before, I went on a rampage to find inspiration at places that I could see my photography being reflected, I specifically tried to look for brands that were NOT related to photography, to name a few places where my inspiration came from Anthropology, the World Market & Earthbound. Below is an example of how the photo was an inspiration to come up with one of the menus:

I have to say that I am attracted to things with a lots of textures, specially if they reflect nature like colors. Part of why I love nature colors is because I want my photography to reflect very natural expressions in people and that to me tied the whole concept together, here is the before and after home pages:

I’m a Rihanna fan and from her CD cover I found this font that totally inspired me:

This is how my galleries used to be displayed, although it looks nice and simple, there is nothing too special about it…

New gallery display…it actually scrolls when you place the mouse right on it–we also decided to keep the galleries short, simple and straight to the point.

We also decided to add the video that was produced a few months ago by Encore Video Productions, so we ended up having two parts of it, the introduction and “behind the scenes” which is the actual interview!

Lastly, we added the new Facebook feature, where my visitors can actually comment right on the website! Check it out:

We are very excited to officially launch our NEW SITE!!! I have to mention that I am incredibly thankful for so many people that have been always there to listen to my crazy ideas and help me accomplish them. Thanks to the support of my husband who continuously is there for me in many ways, mom, dad, my brother ( who by the way is an amazing assistant!). Also, thanks to the clients who took part in my branding process: Stephanie Sisson, Debbie Debicella & Jessica Durivage. Thanks again to everyone who knows me and gives me words of encouragement! Miles is Two years old!!

Today was such a special day…it was my little boy’s b-day party! We shared such a special time with family and really close friends…we were surrounded by love, and lots of energy! When I first thought about choosing a theme…well, the first idea that came to my mind was “cars.” Miles is such a car lover, and I knew I could come up with lots of different ideas when looking at bright red & blue. God granted us the most amazing weather, a clear, warm, sunny day. Huge thanks to Sara Barnhill for sending me lots links & info for the cupcakes. I will be forever grateful for our parents, my bestie and my brother (who took some of the pics!)

Nourishing inspiration

Understanding who we are and what we are supposed to do in this world, may be the one question we all want to answer. I’ve been scattering all over the place to try to define who I am and how I can showcase that in my photography brand. Building my new site has been a push to showcase my personality, so I decided to go on the hunt for things that made me feel something special, things that made me smile. To my surprise I started to find them everywhere…( literally). The grocery store, restaurants, books and stores.

I can’t really tell you why I love all the images below, but I simply do..they bring certain joy and inspiration to continue to look inside of me and follow my instincts to feel creative. Please excuse the quality of these images–they were all taken with my phone, which by the way has allowed me to nourish the visual creative juices!
