Happy Halloween!

October 30, 2009

Hi everybody! Its Halloween and although I never celebrate this ” holiday”, this year we will! We have a cute 8 month old and we are going trick or treating…! We are going to make out with Candy….of course little Miles will not participate in the eating…that is what his parents are for! hahahaha…

This baby has brought not only joy but tranquility to our lives. My mom is having some health issues and that has surely taken a toll on all of us, but this baby keeps remanding us to stay positive and to have faith in the Lord. God has brought us to this country with a purpose and not to fail, we may not know all that God has in store for us but I know whatever it might be,  it’s good! He has given us so many things to be thankful for!

I thank him everyday for allowing me to have my own business and be able to raise Miles. It was only 3 years ago that I decided to start this company, and although things were rough in the beginning, they are turning brighter! I believe that perseverance is what takes us where we want to go. I remember just about 3 years ago, I had just bought a rebel camera and had no idea what aperture was….Oh boy, I struggled with that….! but here I am, learning everyday more tricks to become an excellent photographer. I have to thank a couple of people for guiding me into the right direction! The first person who influenced me greatly was Stan Sowa. This man has more patience than anyone I know! He allowed me to use his equipment for my first weddings! We are still good pals and to this day, I call him if I have technical questions! Another person that helped me along the way is Carl Kerridge, he gave me a great opportunity to work for him a few years ago! I had no much  knowledge of what I was doing, but he exposed me not only to weddings, but to all the work that comes after a wedding. Last but NOT least, is Ms. Lynn Cole Daly! How do I start talking about her….Umm…one thing, she is a hot pepper (ha-ha) besides being an amazing photographer, Lynn is a very sensitive, strong, kind & very funny woman. She also took me under her wing and thought me lots of valuable information that I put into practice to this day. She continues to give me advice and guidance to become a better photographer. Is funny because we are both wedding photographers, but we don’t see each other as rivals, we are colleagues in the business! I think that is the kind of attitude that us professionals should have, right?

Anyways, this post really got a little longer that I expected…I guess I just got caught up in the moment and wrote all these things I guess I have been wanting to say. To all of you, don’t give up in whatever you want to do…chase it and make it yours! I am also trying to put that into practice with motherhood & the career of a photographer, I want to be great at both things, but maintain a balance…( so I won’t go crazy!)

With that said, Thanks to the audience out there, I appreciate all the awesome feedback you are all giving me! It keeps pushing me to better myself. Oh..yeah, and before I forget, I have been nominated for “Best of the Beach” How cool is that?! Please vote for me!

Now, Enjoy these pictures of the most amazing baby that God could have ever sent me! Thank you Lord again for his life!

Lyndon and Charita Rouse

October 29, 2009

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Charita’s pretty face! She is such beautiful bride! I remember when she first called me to find out if I was available for her wedding. She sounded very excited about her engagement and was happy to be planning a beautiful wedding. The wedding took place in Florence, and I got to meet the team for Player Wedding Films. They are such talented team!

Lyndon and Charita had a beautiful ceremony…all parents were present to support them on this beautiful step of faith. I hope you enjoy these images!

May God bless you.

Heart Stories Project

October 29, 2009

The non-profit organization Gap created a program for artists and non-profits to come together and complete a project that would create sustainability. Heart Stories and myself have partnered up to complete a series of interviews that would be presented to teachers through books and other materials!  For the first interview, I went to the Classroom of Ms. Jenny Edwards  and met Srgt. Bart Viers. I had the pleasure of listening to all the sweet comments and questions that he students asked him. The Sargent talked about his job overseas and even give the students a present…a bill and a flag from Iraq! How cool! For more information about this interview, please visit the link for Heart Stories blog.
